Free Outdoor Plays

I had the opportunity to attend Shakespeare in the Park to watch "All's Well That Ends Well" and I loved every minute of the performance. The Public Theater hosts Shakespeare in the Park every summer for free. This year it is being held from June 6th to July 30th. They are no longer giving tickets away in the boroughs, but you can still get tickets by standing in line at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park or by clicking on the Shakespeare in the Park link I provided and using the virtual ticketing system. I would opt for standing in line at the theater for tickets for more of a guarantee.

After watching the play I was really excited to see what other plays I could watch for free in the city and I came across a really interesting one. The New York Classical Theater is putting on "Henry V" for free in Battery Park. You pick up a wrist band between 5-6:30pm on the day of the performance in front of Castle Clinton. The really cool part about it is that it begins in Battery Park (considered to be England) and you take the ferry over to Governors Island (considered to be France) for the remainder of the performance.

Performance Dates are: July 13, 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, and 24th

I can't wait to check it out!

I'm Back :)

Things have been pretty busy with work, family visiting,  and my little sister's high school graduation but now things are calming down and I can dive back into the world of blogging. I have so much to share!

While I was away I took my family to Govenors Island for free Bike rental Fridays, attended an African Music concert at the Central Park Summerstage, ventured out to Coney Island, stood in line at Snug Harbor on Staten Island for free tickets to Shakspeare in the Park (excellent show by the way - "All's Well That Ends Well"), drove down to Philadelphia for a day, and had a picnic along with Hudson River for the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Show.

What have you been up to? Have you been on a trip or ventured out to do something in your city or town?

NYC....The City That Never Sleeps

On Monday a friend of mine was able to score free tickets to an event at Terminal 5 hosted by Bacardi – “Like It Live, Like It Together”. You had to be 21 and up to attend because Bacardi was providing free alcohol all night long. Stage line up included Kid Cudi, Aloe Blacc, DJ Irie, Eklips, Evolution of Dance, and Tamara Sky.
The event was based on a compilation of peoples “Likes” to particular things on Facebook. They provided free old school arcade games, free make-your-own t-shirts, basketball on the roof, and free pizza and water at the end of the night. I played Mrs. Pacman, got a free custom t-shirt made, and sipped Bacardi and coke while enjoying the show with friends.

I was expecting the event to run from about 10pm (doors opened at 9) until about 1am at the lastest…plenty of time for me to get home, rest, and wake up for yoga in Bryant Park at 10am Tuesday morning….well we left at 3am and the concert was still going. I’m not sure what time it ended, but I was definitely too tired for yoga Tuesday morning. I was going to try the pilates workout at Brooklyn Bridge Park but the rain clouds kept me away, so I opted for a relaxing evening and a pedicure instead :)
