NYC....The City That Never Sleeps

On Monday a friend of mine was able to score free tickets to an event at Terminal 5 hosted by Bacardi – “Like It Live, Like It Together”. You had to be 21 and up to attend because Bacardi was providing free alcohol all night long. Stage line up included Kid Cudi, Aloe Blacc, DJ Irie, Eklips, Evolution of Dance, and Tamara Sky.
The event was based on a compilation of peoples “Likes” to particular things on Facebook. They provided free old school arcade games, free make-your-own t-shirts, basketball on the roof, and free pizza and water at the end of the night. I played Mrs. Pacman, got a free custom t-shirt made, and sipped Bacardi and coke while enjoying the show with friends.

I was expecting the event to run from about 10pm (doors opened at 9) until about 1am at the lastest…plenty of time for me to get home, rest, and wake up for yoga in Bryant Park at 10am Tuesday morning….well we left at 3am and the concert was still going. I’m not sure what time it ended, but I was definitely too tired for yoga Tuesday morning. I was going to try the pilates workout at Brooklyn Bridge Park but the rain clouds kept me away, so I opted for a relaxing evening and a pedicure instead :)

Yoga For Free All Summer!

I have developed a love for yoga over time and I absolutely love doing yoga outside. You can do yoga almost every day of the week during the summer at no cost. If you've never done it get out there and try it!

So far I have only been to the yoga classes offered in Bryant Park, but I plan to check out other outdoor yoga classes around the city soon!

Tuesdays @ 10am on the Terrance and Thursdays @ 6pm on the lawn  Yoga is available in Bryant Park. You can bring your own mat or use the one's available. I went to the Thursday evening class for the first time last night and had a wonderful time.

I'll post about more yoga adventures soon!

One of my favorite places to go during the summer!

It opened to the public for the summer on May 27th - Governors Island! I spent last weekend here and I loved every min of it.

A little trip away from the city that's only about a 10-15 min ferry ride away from Manhattan.

Once home to the Army and then to the Coast Guard; Governors Island now belongs to NYC and is considered a part of Manhattan. It's open every Friday-Sunday and Holiday Mondays until September 25th.

Free ferries leave from Manhattan adjacent to the Staten Island Ferry Terminal and from Pier 6 in Brooklyn Bridge Park

Things to do:
  • Cycling - Bike and Roll Bicycle rentals are available on the island, and on Friday's you can rent a bike for one hour for free.
  • Mini golf - Free
  • Picnic - bring your own or purchase food from carts on the island
  • Relax on the lawns or in hammocks available

Let the adventures begin!

Traveling doesn't always mean getting into your car to take a road trip, or purchasing a plane or train ticket to your next destination. It can be about getting out and seeing what your town of city has to offer. Explore the work around you. And when you're done exploring your own city of town go and explore someone else's.

I'm in the military and move every 3-4 years so I try to explore and get to know each new place I get stationed at. This blog will be about my day to day adventures in my current location "The Big Apple" also know as NYC, the the different things the city has to offer, as well as my travels to other places. I will be posting information on things to do in all five boroughs and the tri-state area.

This blog is about adventure big and small. Some adventures require money and some do not.

Whether your using this blog to plan your next trip to NYC or your using this blog for inspiration to explore your own city I hope you enjoy!

Bring family, bring friends, or just go out on your own little adventure :)
